Commencing in June 2026, this Graduate Support Worker position offers a fantastic opportunity to grow your professional skills and make a difference. The Graduate Support Worker will be a member of a multi-disciplined team using holistic approaches to support Depaul service users. Working within the principle of harm minimization, where residents receive a high degree of care, support, and dignity, Depaul is committed to service user participation and empowering residents to manage their own lives.

This role works across a 7-day week rota.

At the end of the twelve-month programme, graduates will be able to:

  • Work as a member of a multi-disciplined team in the best interests of the residents and report to the team.
  • Encourage and support service users to develop skills in managing their daily living.
  • Observe and participate in key worker sessions with service users when required.
  • Provide a presentation on Support Worker experience.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Encourage and support service users to develop skills in managing their daily living.
  • Ensure that the service is maintained to a good standard of tidiness, cleanliness, and hygiene, including communal areas, in conjunction with residents and the rest of the team.
  • Encourage service users to take responsibility for maintaining their environment.
  • Observe and attend key worker sessions with service users when required.
  • Provide reports on assigned case studies during Support Worker Rotation.
  • Assist residents with personal monies, service charge payments, etc., where necessary, in conjunction with the project team.
  • Carry out project administration tasks such as petty cash management, project statistics, invoices, record keeping, Service User files, OTIS, IR, and AR completion.

Position: Graduate Support Worker

  • Ensure health and safety standards are met within the project according to Depaul’s policies and safety statements.
  • Undertake duties related to the overall health, safety, and security of the service, including the use of security systems.
  • Support residents to maintain positive mental health.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplined team, reporting to the team and partner agencies when Case Workers are unavailable.
  • Plan and facilitate onsite social activities.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings and staff days.
  • Participate in regular supervision, annual appraisals, and identify personal development and training needs.
  • Engage in ongoing graduate programmes and events.

Person Requirements and Experience

  • Qualification in Social Care, Psychology, Social Science, Criminology, or Community Development.
  • Understanding of why people become homeless and the issues they face, including supports available in homeless services for complex needs.
  • Knowledge of statutory and voluntary sector resources for homeless people.
  • Good communication skills and computer literacy.
  • Understanding of Depaul’s vision, mission, and values.
  • Ability to work shifts.
  • Relevant experience in the community and voluntary sectors.

Desirable

  • Driving Licence.
