About Stella Maris:

Stella Maris is managed by Depaul in partnership with Radius Housing Association. It operates on a 24‑7 basis with day and night support teams, providing a low‑threshold, harm‑reduction service for people with a long history of street drinking and homelessness. The project delivers in‑house catering for all residents.

Your new role:

You will be a member of a multi‑disciplined team using holistic approaches to support Depaul service users. Supporting the day‑to‑day running of the service, you will undertake reception and building management tasks, support service users in their transition into the service, help diversify activities, and work closely with case workers to deliver bespoke support plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the first point of contact for service users, agencies, contractors, and visitors.
  • Ensure the practical needs of service users are met, including meal preparation, laundry, and general upkeep of living space.
  • Maintain accurate service user records.
  • Provide timely and accurate communication to colleagues regarding service users.
  • Assist case workers in meeting service users' needs through activities identified in support plans, including financial, creative, or educational activities.
  • Ensure Health and Safety standards are met in accordance with Depaul’s policy and procedures.
  • Perform cleaning duties as assigned by LMT, in line with health & safety practices.
  • Complete and record all health & wellbeing and building checks in line with local procedure and Depaul policy.
  • Identify building defects following organisational health and safety standards.
  • Administer project tasks such as upkeep of petty cash, project statistics, invoices, record keeping, OTIS, incident and accident reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with Depaul’s IT security policies and remain vigilant to IT and cyber risks.
  • Contribute to team meetings, handovers, training, and mentoring of volunteers.
  • Maintain a professional, high‑quality standard of work aligned with Depaul values and ethos.

Essential Criteria:

  • 3 GCSEs (A‑C) including Maths and English or equivalent.
  • 1 year paid relevant work experience or 2 years relevant volunteering experience.
  • Good working knowledge of risk assessment and risk management processes.
  • Good IT skills, including experience with systems to record client information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to compile and present accurate written and electronic reports.
  • Understanding of homelessness and the factors that can lead to homelessness.
  • Knowledge of supports that can be offered in homeless services to promote positive futures.
  • Awareness of statutory and voluntary sector resources available to people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety standards in the delivery of services.
  • Knowledge of relevant statutory and voluntary agencies and ability to network or liaise with them.
  • Willingness to work within the guidelines of Depaul’s vision, mission and values.

Circumstances:

  • Ability to work on a rota basis (7‑day week – mornings, evenings, weekends and nights).
