About Us:
Role Overview:
We are looking for anAssistantHomelessnessSupport Workerto join our 21 bed supported accommodation.in the London Borough of Haringey. You will work as part of a team to deliver an assessment, support and move-on service to our clients within supported accommodation.
As AssistantHomelessness Support Worker, you will provide accommodation and support services for people experiencing homelessness and rough sleeping. In addition, you will jointly coordinate the safe day to day running of the accommodation with other members of the team.
You will be the first point of contact at reception for clients and visitors, and will be responsible for coordinating the daily office work for the team including leading on Health and Safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cover all reception tasks, including dealing with phones, petty cash management and rent collection, project post, and all referral enquiries.
- Coordinate appointments for clients e.g. with GP/DWP/Probation, as required.
- Provide advice to clients on housing, health, welfare benefit claims and other issues as necessary.
- Under the supervision of your Line Manager, keywork a small caseload of clients
- Diffuse difficult or dangerous situations, resolve conflict between service users effectively and sensitively and to summon outside emergency or other assistance when necessary.

What We Are Looking For – Person Specification:
- Some experience of dealing directly with the public and/or clients or customers in a busy service environment.
- Some experience of dealing with complex and difficult behaviours in relation to people. The willingness to develop skills to support people who may be in difficult personal or emotional situations.
- Personal experience of homelessness and/or an understanding of and empathy with the issues faced by those experiencing homelessness and the ability to maintain enthusiasm for a high level of contact with clients on a day-to-day basis.
