About the Role. Be part of positive change every day. As a Young People Support Worker (Day) at our Safestop service in Manchester, you’ll support young people aged 18–25 to move forward from supported accommodation into independent living. Working across a rotating daytime rota, you’ll build purposeful relationships, promote resilience and help young people develop the confidence and skills they need to thrive.

You’ll manage a small caseload of people with high needs, leading on support planning, risk assessment and move‑on pathways. Through structured one‑to‑one and group work, you’ll encourage engagement in education, training and employment, work collaboratively with partner agencies, and keep young people meaningfully involved in decisions about their lives and their community. Creating a safe, welcoming environment and upholding safeguarding and professional boundaries will be central to your role.

We’re looking for someone proactive, compassionate and skilled, with experience of working with young people or people who have experienced homelessness. In return, you’ll receive strong induction, reflective supervision and ongoing development in an inclusive organisation that believes in people’s potential—and takes action to help them realise it.

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday rota, covering three rotating shifts: morning, afternoon, and evening.

Key Deliverables
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of clients in the service at all times possible including using Safeguarding and emergency alert procedures as applicable.
  • Carry a caseload of clients for whom you will be the named key worker, and jointly responsible for the wellbeing and day‑to‑day support of all clients in the services.
  • Lead on risk and needs assessment and support planning for key clients and contribute to ongoing needs and risk assessment of other clients in the service.
  • Develop and implement SMART outcomes‑based support plans for key clients.
  • Deliver one‑to‑one and group support opportunities within their accommodation and in the local community aimed at increasing resilience in the clients we work with.
  • Proactively work in partnership with multiple agencies, including statutory teams, to support the wellbeing of Depaul clients in accordance with data protection and information sharing protocols.
  • Be flexible, reflective and creative in your engagement with clients and personalise support to them.
  • Involve clients in decisions made about them and encourage participation in Depaul’s wider community programme of activities.
  • Support all clients to participate in Education, Training, Employment and Volunteering opportunities as appropriate to the development of their skills, assets and aspirations.
  • Participate in a rota which may include unsocial hours and weekend working.
  • Prepare accommodation for new clients to move in and support clients to settle in.
  • Support and facilitate the work of the volunteers who add value to the work that we do.
  • Undertake further duties as commensurate to the role and identified by your line manager.
  • Attend training as appropriate to your development and support in your role.

  • Experience of working with young people or those who have experienced homelessness.
  • Understanding of the needs of people who have experienced homelessness, poor mental health, substance misuse.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Risk Assessments and Support Planning.
  • Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
  • Clear understanding of safeguarding requirements and procedures.
  • Commitment to promoting an environment with the highest regard for the Health and Safety of others.
  • Personal and professional integrity.
  • High level understanding of professional boundaries and ability to maintain boundaries.
  • Effective collaborative working.
  • Ability to effectively reflect on own practices for ongoing learning and development.
