We want a Lead technical Architect to join a flourishing, supportive tech community delivering one of the largest digital transformations in Europe. We’re building on recent successes like bringing our IT in-house, introducing elements such as automation and self-service to our digital services, and accelerating the adoption of public cloud. We would love for you to join us. Delivery. Work. Projects. In this role you’ll work with our Specialist Devices team, who deliver the right specialist devices and services used by DWP colleagues. In Specialist Devices, we have responsibility for macOS and the physical and virtual environments and solutions for our 3,000 Engineering users. You will also have a remit to look at emerging alternative device solutions for particular use cases which provides the team with a varied and interesting workload, often at the forefront of new technology and adoption in DWP. You will lead on the design, build, and running of products, developing and testing solutions, as we re-engineer our entire engineering environment. We want to put the right devices in the right hands, so that our people can deliver great service to DWP customers. You’ll be the architectural lead for the replacement of approximately 8,500 customer-facing devices used in Jobcentres, ensuring accessibility, ease of use, and data security. We’ve got ambitious plans for changing and improving the basic technology underpinning customer computers. We want to radically change the platform and improve the experience of our internal user base. And we will be creating a data-centred capability to support Digital Workspaces service improvement. It’s big, complex stuff, which will transform how DWP works, for us and for our customers. We need you to help us get it right. Your essential skills, knowledge and experience * Lead criterion – Architecture design and modelling techniques, patterns, tools and standards. * Experience in End User devices, including back-end management and support infrastructure e.g. AD, ADFS, ADCS, DNS, DHCP, CMS5, PKI and SSO. * Experience of operating systems in Windows, macOS, and Linux desktop. * Experience of virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solutions such as VMware Horizon, Citrix, Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (RDS), and Azure Virtual Desktop. * Technical authoring skills, particularly for the production of technical design and specification documents. * Experience with presenting to senior stakeholders. Hybrid Work: We work a hybrid model, with some time at home and some time in a hub with the team. Pay: We offer competitive pay from £72,664 to £89,995 Pension: You’ll be eligible for a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions of 28.97%, worth up to £21,059 a year. Holidays: You’ll get a generous leave package starting at 26 days rising to 31, plus all the usual bank holidays, and the option to take extra days off on flexi leave.
