The Bradfield Development Authority (BDA) is seeking a highly skilled Senior Development Manager to join the Planning, Design and Sustainability team on a 12-month maternity leave cover opportunity. This role offers the opportunity to lead complex rezoning and precinct planning initiatives that will help shape Australia's newest city and support the future growth of Western Sydney.

Working closely with NSW Government agencies, local councils, industry partners, First Nations stakeholders and the community, you will drive strategic planning outcomes, manage statutory planning processes and provide expert advice on major development and precinct planning projects. You will play a key role in progressing rezoning proposals, coordinating specialist inputs, managing consultants and ensuring projects are delivered in line with legislative requirements, government priorities and project objectives.

What you will bring to the role

  • Extensive experience progressing rezoning and precinct planning proposals through the NSW planning system.
  • Proven experience preparing, managing and delivering rezoning proposals under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (EP&A Act).
  • Strong knowledge of strategic planning, environmental planning legislation and NSW Government planning frameworks.
  • Experience working with NSW Government agencies, particularly on matters relating to flood risk, biodiversity assessments, environmental planning and statutory approvals.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft, review and amend statutory planning maps and planning instruments.
  • Experience delivering meaningful First Nations engagement and incorporating cultural considerations into planning and development outcomes.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, negotiation and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence outcomes across government, industry and community groups.
  • Experience managing consultants, procurement processes and contracts to achieve high-quality project outcomes.
  • Demonstrated project management capability, including managing risks, budgets, timelines and competing priorities across complex projects.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with experience preparing high-quality reports, briefs and recommendations for senior executives and government decision-makers.

What is an essential requirement:

  • Tertiary qualifications in planning, urban design, architecture, engineering, project management, property, real estate, construction or a related discipline, or significant relevant industry experience.
