This role will be located in the following location; Leeds. Please find further information on the Corporate hub locations here., We re looking for Senior Interaction Designers with a high level of experience helping teams design and deliver services that are simpler, faster and easier to use.

You ll be working alongside other user centred design professionals who are committed to deliver the best possible outcomes for all of our users and ensuring everything we design is accessible to everyone.

You ll join a highly supportive community, sharing your expertise, and learning new skills from those around you., As a Senior Interaction Designer, you ll:

  • demonstrate best practice in user centred design, for digital and non-digital interactions.

  • work effectively across multiple teams, adapting quickly to change.

  • champion accessibility and inclusion, considering the impact of new technologies.

  • collaborate with designers in other teams, give constructive feedback on other people s work and help lead the development of design patterns.

  • use research and analytics to understand user needs and identify opportunities.

  • create prototypes using appropriate tools and methodologies, advising others on prototyping best practice.

  • lead and coordinate design work, supporting other designers where necessary.

  • actively support the design community in DWP and across government., We’re looking for a Senior Interaction Designer who can demonstrate skills and experience in key areas.   • User focus – Use data from research and analytics to understand user s needs and test designs to meet them.

  • Evidence and context-based design – Work with others to design solutions that are based on evidence, and help identify gaps in knowledge.

  • Communication – Present your work and share design decisions, explaining ideas in a way that people understand and actively listen to other people s input.

Stage 2: Interview

Your interview will either be conducted face to face or by video. You will be notified of the location if you are selected for interview.

You will be asked to do a 10-minute presentation on a specific topic. Further details will be provided to candidates invited to interview.

To help you prepare and settle into the interview you will be sent the experience-based questions in advance of the interview, 7 days prior to your interview.

These questions should be treated as confidential and should not be shared. The interview panel may ask you other questions which will not be shared in advance, including follow-up questions, and those about your experience. Candidates should be asked further probing questions if their response is deemed to require further information to determine suitability for the role.

Candidates are strongly encouraged to secure their interview slot promptly to ensure fairness in preparation time with the questions provided in advance.

This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account. Salary Information

Pay for this role is from £55,557 to £66,058.

Our offer to successful candidates will be based on an assessment of your skills and experience as demonstrated at interview.

Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer should maintain their current salary.

Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion may move to the bottom of the grade pay scale or 10% increase in salary whichever would be the greater.
