Air quality is a major government priority, with Clean Air Zones addressing urgent roadside NO2 challenges. This role supports the Head of Clean Air Zone Service Delivery by managing project finances, coordinating with DfT, DVLA, Defra and seven Local Authorities. Responsibilities include in‑year financial management, reporting, finance operations and budget oversight. Based in the Roads Strategy Directorate, the role helps ensure effective delivery and oversight of the Clean Air Zone service.
Top Responsibilities
- Support the provision of robust and timely finance information to wider finance teams in DfT to manage NO2 finances effectively.
- Work with the Finance Business Partner to facilitate the monthly management accounts production.
- Ensure timely processing of supplier invoices, investigate delays and provide guidance on the correct invoicing practices.
- Ensure grants and contracts are set up, issued and monitored in a timely and efficient way.

About You
To be successful in this role you will need to have the following experience:
- An understanding of UK Government budgeting and accounting rules.
- Experience in budget management, planning, forecasting and production of high-quality financial information.
- Experience of planning and collating information for audit and other reporting purposes.
- Experience of financial planning in a complex policy and delivery environment.
