The Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join its business services support team in Aldershot. The role supports health, safety and facilities management, ensuring compliance with legislation and organisational standards. Working within a small, dynamic team, you will assist with operational activities across RAIB facilities and operational sites. This role is key to maintaining a safe, compliant and well‑run working environment, while offering opportunities to develop your knowledge across support and operational functions.

Top Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the management of facilities to support the safe and efficient operation of the Aldershot operational site.
  • Acting as a focal point, interfacing with the facilities management provider and contractor-led activities.
  • Administering and managing kit and equipment testing and calibration requirements to ensure RAIB’s operational preparedness.
  • Completing routine vehicle maintenance and safety checks of RAIB response vehicles.
  • Managing enquiries and acting as focal point on health, safety and facilities matters, providing advice to stakeholders across the organisation.

About you

To be successful in this role you will need to have the following experience:

  • Practical experience in facilities/estates management and a working knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and application within the workplace.
  • You will have a flexible approach to work, be self-motivated and willing to learn new areas.
  • Organisational skills are essential, with the ability to manage multiple simultaneous outputs requiring frequent communication, organisation, and time management.
  • You will have strong communication skills and can communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Being resourceful, innovative, and adaptable, you’ll respond effectively to the changing needs of the organisation and operational demands.

Essential qualifications/licenses:

  • A full UK driving license.
