Electrical Switchgear Academy The Assured Skills Electrical Switchgear Academy with Vertiv provides industry-leading training and will prepare you for a role in the electrical installation sector.
This Academy will be delivered in partnership with North West Regional College (NWRC).
Contents Training The Electrical Switchgear Academy with Vertiv is an eight-week training course providing practical knowledge and real-world experience required to work in the sector.
Training will include five weeks intensive training at NWRC and three weeks on-site training in Vertivat Campsie Industrial Estate, .
Participants will receive a weekly training allowance of £185 for the duration of the Academy, as well as help with travelling and childcare expenses where people qualify.
Successful applicants to the Academy will work towards a Level 2 entry level qualification in Electrical Installation (EAL) for work in the electrical switchgear sector.
Those who successfully finish the course are guaranteed an interview with Vertiv for a permanent role as a Junior Panel Wirer.
An interview is not a guarantee of a job.
Offers of employmentwill be solely at the discretion of the company following the interview.
Applicants should note the job roles available are not eligible for skilled worker sponsorship.
There are 16 places available at the Academy with the potential for a job with Vertiv for all 16 participants.
Vertiv announced in November 2023 the creation of approximately 200 jobs for the Derry~Londonderry area in the next four years, of which the majority will be operative roles.
Who can apply No previous experience is needed but you must: be at least 18 years old on Monday 5 October 2026 and have a right to work and to undertake Assured Skills Training in the UK at the point of application and not be disqualified from doing either by reason of their immigration status.

Information session, interview and training dates Information session An information session will be held on Monday 14 September 2026.
Interview dates Interviews will be held on Tuesday 15, Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 September 2026.
Training dates Training will take place from Monday 5 October until Friday 27 November 2026.
Applicants must be available for the whole of the training period.
Five weeks of training at NWRC takes place weekdays, 9 am to 5 pm.
Three weeks of training takes place at Vertiv, 8 am to 5 pm, Monday Thursday and 8 am to 2.30 pm on Fridays.
Living outside Northern Ireland If you live outside Northern Ireland, by accepting an offer of a place on this pre-employment training Academy, you are committing to attending training and pursuing a job opportunity with Vertiv based in Derry~Londonderry, Northern Ireland.
