We provide generalist HR expertise to scope, design, and deliver projects with clear objectives and timelines.

In this exciting and varied role, you will work on some of the most pivotal HR initiatives in the function. You will support the scoping, design, and delivery of business-critical HR projects to enable Defra to deliver for the environment, the economy and the nation. Defra is the UK government department responsible for safeguarding our natural environment, supporting our world-leading food and farming industry, and sustaining a thriving rural economy. Our broad remit means we play a major role in people's day-to-day life, from the food we eat, and the air we breathe, to the water we drink.
In this fast paced, varied, and rewarding role you will apply a balanced project management approach and your generalist HR skills to help:
- Shape and deliver HR projects/input to large scale business projects from scoping to delivery
- Facilitate strong project structures and bring the right people together
- Engage with stakeholders and trade union partners
- Influence outcomes, manage risks, and drive joined-up delivery
- Ensure appropriate project closure moving things to a business-as-usual footing where necessary
You will lead smaller projects and be a key part of the team delivering bigger projects. You'll work closely with HR Business Partners, HR Expert Services teams, and leaders across the department to deliver effective people solutions.
