Job Summary
As the accountable role leading safety across the property portfolio, this senior management position will be responsible for making decisions on health and safety compliance matters on behalf of the Deputy Director for Health and Safety. This role supports the design, planning, building, and implementation of our portfolio, with a focus on fostering a safety culture and ensuring compliance across our properties. It is crucial for the development and enhancement of the health & safety management system within Defra Group Property.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage the health and safety strategy for the build estate, including Weybridge and the Science Estate.
- Report on health and safety data to senior management to ensure compliance.
- Develop and maintain the Property Safety Management System.
- Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and standards.
- Analyze safety performance data and promote best practices.
- Collaborate with Arm’s Length Bodies’ H&S teams and technical specialists.
- Lead the Property Health and Safety team, overseeing planning, reporting, and incident response.
- Serve as the main contact and subject matter expert on property health and safety issues.
Person Specification
- Developing, monitoring, and managing safety arrangements.
- Reporting on safety data and compliance.
- Driving a positive safety culture and implementing improvement plans.
- Managing contractor safety and ensuring adherence to CDM 2015.

Qualifications
- Essential: NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health or equivalent.
