The difference you will make
The role of a Solution Architect is to work alongside our Engineering Leads to supply architectural solutions for agile software teams in the delivery of related products. You will help translate business requirements into coherent and effective solutions, leveraging other solution architects and engineers to identify and apply appropriate patterns to solve business problems. You will document solution designs and ensure they are communicated and peer reviewed appropriately to the point of signoff. You will assist the engineering leadership team in shaping and estimating new projects and supplying options for technical approaches for new business ideas. You will keep abreast of emergent software industry practices and technologies and assess and advise on the opportunities and risks of using them within the media programme. You will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of software design patterns including architectural approaches to the development of applications, data, integration, infrastructure and security. You will possess leadership skills in proactively driving forward and communicating solutions effectively. You will have demonstrated evidence of applying technology to solve business problems with an all round solution architecture experience within data-rich and analytics-focused environments. You will also have experience of dealing with senior business stakeholders and people across the technology domain. You will equally have experience of frontend SPA frameworks and exposure to the trends in micro frontends.
What you will be doing
- Work with Engineering and Architecture leads to formulate solutions, using workshop techniques where appropriate, in line with business goals and with the Architectural Roadmap for Media Systems.
- Document and help implement detailed solutions, ensuring that application patterns adhere to platform, enterprise, security and infrastructure standards.
- Lead in the peer review process to ensure timely review and signoff of proposed solutions.
- Provide hands on support, when required, during technical investigations and PoCs during the discovery phase.
- Help define the art of the possible in response to business requests for technical solutions to business problems by identifying technical solutions, options and estimates for new ideas.
- Collaborate with others in the team to deliver secure, reliable, robust, scalable solutions which can be built, tested and deployed using automation and CI/CD pipelines.
- Take ownership of architectural solutions for your team throughout the delivery cycle, helping to resolve blockers and challenges as they emerge.
- Demonstrate continued learning and evaluation of the latest methods, tools and technologies.
