Role Purpose

We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Content Producer to support the production of a magazine and multi-channel content for a major food retailer. Blending editorial rigour with creativity flair, this role requires a strong background in food content, with a passion for producing inspiring and engaging features that ensures the magazine remains relevant and distinctive in the food media space. The Senior Content Producer will work closely with the Magazine Lead in shaping the magazine’s editorial voice, contributing ideas that are joyful and modern, and commissioning standout features that share the brand’s passionate love for food.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of the magazine’s editorial vision, ensuring alignment with the monthly brief and integrated planning.​​
  • Contribute to the development of the editorial calendar, pitching and shaping feature ideas that reflect the diverse passions of food fans and periodically have the potential to drive PR moments​​
  • Lead and support the planning and commissioning of magazine and multichannel content, including features, regulars, hero and campaign content.​​
  • Brief and manage internal and external writers, ensuring tone, structure and storytelling are on-brand and audience-focused.​​
  • Work with the visual team to help maintain a strong identity and aesthetics throughout the magazine’s production.​​
  • Deputise for the Magazine Lead in their absence, ensuring continuity in editorial planning, production and team coordination

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in food media, with at least 4 years in a senior editorial role​​
  • Proven experience in feature writing and commissioning for print and digital publications, ideally within a retail or food brand context​​
  • Strong understanding of the food media landscape and an interest in emerging trends​​
  • Awareness of sustainability trends in food, with the ability to integrate ethical storytelling into content​​
  • Exceptional editorial judgment and a keen eye for magazine craft, along with excellent commissioning, editing, and writing skills​​
  • Knowledge of digital content strategies and how to adapt content for digital platforms​​
  • Experience using audience data and insights to guide editorial decisions and content direction​​​
  • Ability to use AI tools creatively and strategically, freeing up time for greater creativity and innovation.
  • Strong collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams to achieve collective goals​
