Purpose of the Role
A creative and versatile food content producer with a passion for food and drink, responsible for creating and managing food‑related content across our content channels. The role reports to the Food Lead and involves recipe development, food editorial, and content that engages passionate food lovers.
What You’ll Do
- Assist in planning and creating innovative food content for digital, editorial, recipe cards, advertorials, direct mail, social, and special projects, including recipes, cooking tips, health and nutrition advice, meal planning guides and product reviews.
- Commission writers and contributors for recipe content, ensuring deadlines are met and brand consistency is maintained.
- Edit food content copy to ensure consistency with house style.
- Ensure that all recipes are triple‑tested (at least 90 % of testing conducted in the Waitrose Food kitchen) and deliver consistent, high‑quality results.
- Confirm that recipes are Waitrose friendly and nutritionally appropriate, checking product availability, seasonality, packshots and pricing with buyers as needed.
- Write technical cookery content, providing expert advice and clear instructions.
- Participate in planning meetings and marketing briefings, collaborating with designers, art directors and content creators to ensure visually compelling and brand‑aligned content.
What You’ll Bring
- Formal cookery training or substantial experience working in professional kitchens.
- Experience in editorial roles for food‑focused magazines and digital platforms, with a strong understanding of the editorial process.
- Proven experience in writing, testing and editing recipes, ensuring content is accurate, accessible and engaging.
