Purpose of the Role
The Group Tax Assistant Manager will work across a range of tax areas within a large multinational group. The role will involve working on international tax matters, including Pillar 2 reporting and group submissions, assisting with year-end group tax reporting, and contributing to tax-related projects that support the wider business. The position requires the ability to identify tax risks and recommend practical solutions based on experience. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with detailed information, is able to operate autonomously, but is capable of recognising when internal or external specialist input is required. The role will report into the Group Tax Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- International Tax Analysis: Undertaking tax analysis in key areas such as Pillar 2, legal entity reorganisation and simplification, profit repatriation strategies, permanent establishment risk, and other international tax compliance.
- Compliance: Supporting the Group Tax Manager with the collection of relevant data and preparing Pillar 2 calculations and submissions for the group, including coordinating with overseas entities on local Pillar 2 filing requirements.
- Withholding Tax Compliance: Assisting with withholding tax compliance matters, including responding to internal queries and supporting analysis of withholding tax.
- Tax Reporting Support (Year-end): Reviewing tax reporting inputs from local markets and supporting country finance teams with tax reporting queries to ensure accuracy and consistency across the group. Working with the wider Group Tax team to ensure year-end reporting deadlines are met.
- Ad Hoc & Business Support Projects: Contributing to a range of ad hoc tax projects, including providing tax input to the business on client engagements, proposals, and other commercial activities.
Specification
- Technical Qualifications & Experience: ATT and/or ACA/ACCA qualified, with proven tax experience and exposure to tax reporting and accounting under IFRS.
- Analytical & Technical Skills: Strong analytical capability with excellent attention to detail, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Development: Previous Pillar 2 experience is not required, but the role demands a strong appetite to develop new technical skills, embrace challenges, and stay current with evolving tax regulations and trends.
- Commercial Awareness & Stakeholder Management: Commercially astute with a collaborative, pragmatic approach to balancing compliance and business outcomes, supported by strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
- Communication & Influence: Clear, confident communicator with excellent interpersonal, oral, and written skills, able to engage effectively with commercial, functional, leadership, and country teams.
- High-Performance Mindset & Personal Attributes: Resilient, flexible, and agile in thinking, with a proactive “can-do” attitude, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to continuous learning while fostering a positive, high-performing team culture.
