Role Purpose

We are looking for a creative and versatile food content producer that is passionate about food, bringing fresh and exciting ideas to the table. Reporting to the Food Lead, the role will create food-related content for our content channels. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in seasonality, recipe development and food editorial, with the ability to create engaging and exciting content that resonates with passionate food lovers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and creating innovative food content for digital, editorial, recipe cards, advertorials, direct mail, social and other special projects. This includes coming up with inspiring ideas and themes for recipes, cooking tips and menus.
  • Ensure that all recipes are triple-tested (at least 90% of testing conducted in the Waitrose Food kitchen) and that they deliver consistent, high-quality results.
  • Ensure all recipes are Waitrose-friendly and nutritionally-appropriate. If required, check with individual buyers to verify availability of products, appropriate seasonality and that packshots and prices are timely.
  • Write technical cookery content, providing expert advice and clear instructions.
  • Help maintain the test kitchen (including keeping on top of stock levels, ingredients shopping and general cleanliness and tidiness).
  • Participate in planning meetings, working with designers, art directors and content creators to ensure the content is visually compelling and aligned with brand guidelines.
  • Attend shoots to oversee styling when needed.
  • Maintain recipe index spreadsheets each month.
  • Deal with reader queries regarding recipes, responding to letters, emails and phone calls where needed.
  • Collate and manage a contacts list of chefs, food writers and influencers for future content ideas.
  • Support processing invoices (and chasing where appropriate etc) and ensuring that the cost-log is completed accurately on an ad hoc basis.
