We are expanding our legal team and are looking for a lawyer with deep expertise in technology matters to join us as we continue to provide practical and focused legal advice supporting dentsu as it drives sustainable business growth for its clients. The role sits within the Global Technology, IP and Privacy Legal team located in London. The role is a broad one and involves a range of technology, data, privacy, product and intellectual property matters across multiple regions. You will partner with your stakeholders to help dentsu achieve its strategic objectives. There is plenty of opportunity to develop professional and personal skills, take a leading role in the Legal and Compliance team, and work alongside senior management as a trusted business advisor.
Key Responsibilities- Technology, Outsourcing and Partnerships: Drafting, reviewing, negotiating and advising on complex technology and outsourcing contracts, including cross-regional arrangements and global framework agreements as well as supporting procurement and commercial teams on vendor selection, contract negotiations and ongoing supplier management.
- AI, Product Innovation and Emerging Technologies: Acting as a key legal advisor on dentsu’s AI strategy, including the governance, deployment, procurement and use of Generative AI tools across the business. Monitoring and advising on emerging AI regulations and frameworks globally, including the EU AI Act and translating regulatory developments into practical business guidance.
- Business Transformation: Supporting major business transformation programmes, including technology-enabled change initiatives, digital transformation projects and enterprise system implementations.
- Cyber Security: Advising on cyber security incidents, data breaches and incident response, working closely with Information Security, Privacy Communications teams.
- Regulatory: Monitoring and advising on regulatory developments affecting the advertising and marketing technology industry, including digital services regulations, competition law and platform governance. Working alongside privacy colleagues advising on data protection and privacy compliance, including GDPR, international data transfers and cookie/tracking technologies.
- Legal Team Innovation: Contributing to the innovation agenda within the Legal & Compliance function, including dentsu’s investment in Harvey and the development of AI-powered legal solutions to enhance efficiency and client service. Supporting Legal Operations initiatives, including process improvement, knowledge management and the adoption of legal technology tools.
- Membership of a law society or accredited bar organisation, with 2-4 years’ post-qualification experience.
- Experience of advising on technology, emerging technologies, AI, cyber security, and data protection matters.
- Strong commercial and business acumen that allows the individual to efficiently and expeditiously compare the relevant legal risks to the scope of commercial strategy and corporate objectives.
- A great sense of enthusiasm and the ability to collaborate with colleagues across teams and jurisdictions.
- A desire to learn more about new areas of law and the wider industry.
- Well-developed prioritisation & organisation skills.
