Purpose of the Role
The Employee Relations and HR Compliance Director will work closely with senior leaders, HR Business Partners, and the Legal & Compliance team to develop ER strategies, advise on HR policies, ensure legal compliance, and manage complex employee relations issues within the UK (approximately 4,000 employees). The role involves supporting the UK population primarily (70%) and contributing to regional best practices (30%) through a Centre of Excellence. Data analytics will be used to identify trends and develop proactive solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide senior HRBPs and managers to ensure fair application of policies.
- Partner with legal teams to investigate and resolve employee issues, analyze trends, and recommend interventions.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
- Design and deliver ER training for HR and managers.
- Advise on complex ER matters including performance, termination, restructuring, and misconduct.
- Use data to identify organizational trends and develop action plans.
- Update UK & HR Group policies to ensure legal compliance.
- Manage the Policy Sub Committee for policy review and approval.
- Lead and develop the ER team.
- Oversee HR speak-up processes across EMEA markets.
- Manage contingent workforce compliance and tracking.
Qualifications & Skills
- 10+ years in Employment Law and Employee Relations, with UK experience.
- Strong communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
- Expertise in policy drafting and legal compliance.
- Experience supporting multiple locations.
- Excellent project management and analytical skills.
- Leadership experience with small ER teams.
Preferred
- Legal Practice Course (LPC) qualification and legal training experience (desirable).
- Experience with M&A, TUPE, divestments, outsourcing.
- Knowledge of Irish employment law is a plus.
