Opportunity & Role Purpose
This role will be sitting in the Connections Team and evolve from heavy Media Partnerships Management to driving the strategic roadmap across heavily Content, Experience & Innovation driven Partnerships (Platforms, Creator, Ents & Sponsorships, ie Sports, Music, Culture). The Connections Account Director acts as the strategic bridge between our clients' business challenges and integrated media execution. You will lead high-level client relationships, championing innovative "connections planning" that unites creative ideas with data-driven audience insights. You will oversee multi-million pound budgets, drive commercial growth, and mentor a high-performing account team to deliver impactful, cross-channel campaigns.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Leadership & Relationship Management:
- Primary Advisor: Serve as the trusted senior partner for key clients, deeply understanding their business, industry, and competitors.
- Strategic Growth: Proactively identify client business opportunities and pitch organic growth strategies to expand agency revenue.
- Escalation Point: Lead the resolution of high-level client challenges, ensuring exceptional satisfaction and retention.
- Connections Planning & Campaign Strategy:
- Media Ecosystem Design: Oversee the development of holistic communication blueprints that seamlessly connect paid, owned, earned, and shared media channels.
- Audience Insights: Utilize advanced data tools to uncover deep consumer insights, translating them into actionable targeting strategies.
- Creative Collaboration: Partner closely with internal creative, data, and activation teams to ensure the brand message perfectly fits the media context.
- Team & Financial Management:
- Team Mentorship: Manage, motivate, and develop a dedicated team of Managers and Executives, conducting performance reviews and fostering career growth.
- Commercial Accountability: Own the account's financial health, managing profitability, forecasting revenue, and tracking scope-of-work delivery.
- Resource Allocation: Optimize internal team resource allocation to ensure high-quality delivery without burning out staff.
Skills and Qualifications
- Agency Background: Experience in a media, creative, or integrated agency, with a proven track record in an account management or connections planning role.
- Scale: Demonstrated success managing large-scale, multi-channel campaigns (digital, social, OOH, TV, experiential).
- Leadership: Minimum 2 years of direct line-management experience.
Technical & Soft Skills
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to turn complex data into clear, simple communication strategies.
- Communication: Exceptional pitching, presentation, and storytelling skills to influence C-suite clients.
- Tools: Familiarity with audience profiling and market research tools (e.g., YouGov, TGI, comScore).
- Financial Literacy: Strong commercial acumen with experience managing client P&Ls.
