A fast growing eCommerce business based near Bracknell need a Lead QA Engineer to join and help to bring some structure, governance and capability to their testing. You will be the first boots on the ground for them, in terms of testing, they have had developers and product people testing to date, which has been ok but they now need to mature their offering. The business is scaling and it is a really exciting time to join them.
You will need to have automation experience and you will need to be inquisitive around how AI can improve and support a lean testing function. You are very much hands on, but you also need to have an eye on testing improvements and strategy, alongside the CTO. This is a greenfield opportunity.
You’ll define testing strategies, introduce automation, embed quality into Agile ceremonies, and shape the standards others will follow as the team scales.
You will:
- Design and implement QA processes, standards, and testing strategies from scratch
- Carry out manual and automated testing across web, mobile, and API layers
- Define acceptance criteria with product managers and represent quality in sprint planning
- Build out test automation using tools like Cypress, Playwright, or Selenium
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub / AWS)
- Track defects, report on quality metrics, and drive continuous improvement
- Champion a quality-first culture — and help the wider engineering team adopt it
You’ll need:
- Experience as a first or early QA hire, or the capability and desire to be
- Hands-on automation experience (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar)
- Comfortable working across web apps, mobile, and APIs
- Agile/Scrum background — you can contribute from day one
