The Team
The Derivatives team in Dentons’ London office is looking to recruit a French stagiaire for a 6-month full-time internship. This opportunity follows the recent arrival of a new dual-qualified Partner (French Avocat à la Cour / English Solicitor), further strengthening the team’s cross-border derivatives capability. Our team advises on a wide range of OTC and exchange traded derivatives transactions across multiple asset classes, including interest rate, FX, equity, crypto, commodities and credit. The practice is diverse ranging from routine flow of traditional derivative, securities lending and repo transactions and negotiation of related master agreements (ISDA, FBF, GMRA, GMSLA) to finance‑linked swaps, deal‑contingent trades, structured credit and equity derivatives, as well as related regulatory matters (EMIR / UK EMIR, margin and clearing requirements). The work is highly international and frequently involves cross‑border transactions.
The Role
You will be fully integrated into the team and involved in:
- Legal research on derivatives, structured products and related financial regulatory issues.
- Assisting with the drafting of transaction documentation and legal memoranda.
- Supporting transaction execution and participating in client calls, internal meetings and cross‑border discussions.
- Assisting with know‑how and regulatory monitoring.
Required Experience, Skills & Personal Attributes
- You currently hold a Master 2 specialising in Banking & Finance, Financial Law or Capital Markets law.
- A dual academic background (e.g. business school, IEP or foreign university), prior exposure to derivatives documentation, and/or completion of at least one significant internship in a banking & finance practice would be an asset.
- You have excellent command of English (written and spoken) and a strong interest in derivatives, financial markets and financial regulation.
- You are organised, detail‑orientated and intellectually rigorous, with strong analytical and drafting skills.
- You demonstrate autonomy, responsiveness and the ability to work under pressure on complex and technical matters.
- You are motivated to develop your expertise in derivatives within a stimulating and international environment, where teamwork and technical excellence are key to success.
