Duration: Permanent

Location: London

Reports to: Partner

Type of Role: Hybrid (at least 3 days in the office a week)

The Role

Acting for lenders and borrowers on a variety of corporate lending transactions, including large investment grade loans provided by international bank syndicates, secured domestic and cross-border term and revolving facilities, acquisition financings (including public to private), and other cash flow based loans. We act for a wide range of lenders and borrowers in this space. Our lender clients include UK and international banks, private debt funds and insurers. Our borrower clients range from listed UK corporates to hotel operating businesses. Our team members are based in London, Edinburgh and Glasgow and you will be working with team members across those three offices. Many of the transactions we work on are cross‑border in nature and so you will also have the opportunity to work with our extensive global network of offices. Our real estate finance and fund finance practices sit within the same practice group. As such, a familiarity with these product areas is useful, though not essential.

We are focused on supporting and developing members of our team, providing them with the opportunity to stretch themselves whilst ensuring they have readily accessible tools in the form of precedents and know‑how resources second to none. In addition, you will be encouraged and empowered to get involved in marketing and business development initiatives. To support you in this role, you will have the benefit of our award‑winning learning and development programs.

Experience, skills, and attributes

  • Between 4-8 years’ post‑qualification experience working in an international law firm, primarily in the areas described above.
  • Experience in running finance transactions of the type described above, including club and syndicated transactions.
  • A good understanding of LMA‑style documentation, including facility agreements and intercreditor agreements.
  • A good understanding of cash‑flow based financial covenants.
  • Advanced core technical legal skills relevant to transactional banking work, including UK company law, and English contract, insolvency and security law.
