We are actively seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and collaborative Visiting Music Teacher to teach Cello to our dedicated students. Responsible to the Director of Music, this role is a fantastic opportunity to join us during exciting times for Music at Denstone College as we continue to encourage our entire school to get involved in music making.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach pupils, ranging from complete beginners to high standard, the technique and musicianship required to play an appropriate music instrument, offering encouragement, support and guidance as necessary.
  • Organise timetables in conjunction with the music secretary via Involve Education, adhering to the College policy.
  • Complete weekly registers and lesson notes on Involve Education.
  • Prepare appropriate pupils for Music Exams.
  • Where appropriate, and following consultation from the Director of Music, organise, promote, rehearse and direct ensembles in extra-curricular activities.
  • Prepare pupils for concerts, festivals and competitions (as appropriate) and encourage pupils to take the available opportunities to develop all aspects of their musicianship.
  • Aim to attend concerts that your pupils/ensembles are performing at.
  • Promote the general progress and well-being of any pupils assigned to you.
  • Act in the professional manner of a schoolteacher, maintaining good order and discipline among the pupils and safeguarding their health and safety.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact following the College Safeguarding policy.
  • Undertake such training as may be reasonably required by the College to properly adapt to the changing requirements of the College and the role or as may be necessary to fulfil the College's statutory or regulatory obligations.

The successful candidate will be hard-working, skilled in teamwork, and have the drive to develop their own teaching skills, as well as to share good practice with colleagues. First and foremost, you will have a genuine love of music and a desire to inspire the same thing in your students.
