The Role
As a Material Planner, you will play a key role in ensuring the factory is supplied with the appropriate materials to support production within a JIT manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, you will be responsible for the efficient scheduling and expediting of materials, ensuring on-time delivery to maintain, flow and meet customer delivery requirementsSupport the achievement of business objectives through effective inventory managementMonitor and report supplier OTIF performanceWork with suppliers and internal teams to improve supplier delivery performanceCreate and complete corrective actions where requiredContribute to improvements in MRP functionality and processes in support of business targetsBuild and maintain strong working relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholdersWork cross-functionally with Purchasing, Quality, Engineering and Management teamsProactively progress chase materials and challenge discrepancies to minimise disruption to production
What Were Looking For
- Strong working knowledge of material and/or production planning
- Good understanding of MRP principles and planning operations
- Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to effectively prioritise competing demands
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to communicate
confidently and effectively with colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders at all levels - Ability to build strong supplier relationships and effectively expedite materials to support production requirements
- Resilient and proactive approach, with the confidence to challenge discrepancies and resolve day-to-day supply issues
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Preferred Experience & Qualifications
- 35 years experience in material and/or production planning
- Previous experience working with MRP systems
- Experience within an automotive manufacturing or FMCG environment would be advantageous
- Experience working within a fast-paced JIT manufacturing environment
- Demonstrable experience of working with suppliers to support continuity of supply and right-first-time manufacturing
