Job Role The Assistant Group Quality Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. The role requires knowledge and experience in quality assurance, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives to support safe, compliant, and efficient design, manufacturing, delivery, and post-delivery activities. Key Responsibilities Manage and maintain the organisations QMS in accordance with EN 9100:2018, ISO 9001:2015, and ISO . Ensure compliance with customer, industry, and statutory quality requirements. Lead internal and external audits, certification audits, customer audits, and regulatory assessments. Oversee inspection, testing, and verification activities. Manage non-conformances (NCRs), corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs), and root-cause investigations. Manage supplier quality performance and development. Lead and develop the quality team. Support the Group Quality Manager in strategic planning and target setting. Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with regulations such as REACH, Proposition 65, EU MDR, and customer-specific requirements, where applicable. Support regulatory inspections and customer assessments. Manage UK export control and licensing requirements. Leadership and Team Management Lead and develop the quality team through coaching, training, and performance management. Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders. Promote employee engagement and accountability for quality objectives. Manage departmental budgets and resource planning, where applicable. Essential Qualifications Bachelors degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline. Desirable Qualifications Professional registration or working towards Chartered Engineer status. Masters degree in Engineering. Experience 5 years experience in injection moulding, including tool design, manufacture, and finishing processes. Experience with high-performance thermoplastic materials, including PEEK, PAEK, and PPS. Experience in polymer testing and inspection. Participation in internal, supplier, and third-party audits. Experience working directly with major aerospace customers and resolving quality concerns. Knowledge and Skills Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills. Knowledge of root-cause analysis methodologies, including 8D, 5 Whys, and Fishbone analysis. Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP). Participation in new product introduction. Effective communication and stakeholder management skills. Extensive knowledge of FAIRS, PPAP, and First Part Qualification processes.
