Main Purpose of Post
As an Injection moulding engineer, you will play an integral part in our production flow, your precision, attention to detail and organization will ensure that quality parts are manufactured on time according to the daily production schedule. You will play a vital role in maintaining the highest quality standards whilst supporting a safe, efficient and productive factory floor.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set a positive example to support continuous business improvement and team performance.
- Maintain high standards of product quality and maximize machine uptime.
- Optimize machine settings to meet target cycle times and cavity utilisation whilst ensuring the highest of quality standards are met.
- Ensure production machines are set up in a clean, safe, and orderly condition for operators in line with HSE / 5s practices.
- Troubleshoot machine issues affecting quality, performance, or safety.
- Carry-out and document level 1 tool trials as requested.
- Monitor machine and equipment utilization, output and efficiencies, take corrective actions as necessary and recommend improvements to ensure department meet targets.
- Liase and communicate effectively with the engineer supervisor, team leader, planning and quality department, toolroom, maintenance, other team members and shifts with regards to tool changes, settings, operating procedures and general running requirements.
- Participate in problem solving activities to solve customer concerns or rectify internal non-conformances.
- Troubleshoot machine and process issues promptly to minimise downtime and improve part quality.
- To safely use and understand any auxiliary equipment used in injection moulding process.
- Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of moulds, injection units, and auxiliary equipment.
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to enhance machine performance and reliability.
- Maintain accurate documentation of production runs, mould changes, and machine settings through internal report systems (Matics and Therefore).
- Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organised work environment.
- Support with inhouse training of IMM Technicians.
Essential Criteria:
- Minimum of 3 Years tool fitting experience or an Internal level 3 Technician.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a tight knit engineering team.
- Hands-on experience with injection moulding machinery, preferably with Demag/ Engel.
- Strong knowledge of injection moulding processes, mould setup, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to interpret work instructions, technical documents, and process parameters.
- Understanding of plastics materials, drying requirements, and process optimisation.
- Familiarity with hot runner systems and their operation.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Relevant certifications or training in injection moulding. Certificates to be provided upon request.
Desirable:
- Experience with robotics and automation in injection moulding (desirable).
- Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- IT / Computer literacy.
Expected Education:
- 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including Mathematics and English (or equivalent).
