Department: Technical
Purpose
To support the Technical Department in effective management of all projects flowing through the toolroom assisting the team in managing cutting-edge projects for our biggest customers from aerospace to automotive.
Principal Accountabilities
- Perform machine setups quickly, accurately, and efficiently
- Work with CAM programming to develop, and improve CNC programs
- Fabrication of tooling and fixturing for parts of varying complexity
- Operate machines to produce first off production parts
- Coordinate with Technical, Production, Quality, and other relevant departments to develop and implement manufacturing plans
- Liaise with external stakeholders including suppliers and customers to ensure smooth implementation of products
- Collaborate with other functions in internal trials to validate internal manufactured tooling, jigs, and fixtures prior to production
- Conduct Design for Manufacture reviews
- Implement technical advancements to increase production where possible
- Ensure good housekeeping in line with Health & Safety and 5 S practices
- Maintain quality standards through understanding of the Quality Management System
- Monitor and document operational and performance issues and provide feedback
- Contribute to day-to-day operations as required by the Technical Manager and Toolroom Lead
Essential Criteria
A Higher-Level qualification, such as Degree/HNC/HND, in a relevant discipline and 3+ years recent relevant experience in a Toolroom role, time served machinist and/or CNC programmer. OR 5+ years recent relevant experience in a Toolroom role, time served machinist and/or CNC programmer.
Desirable Criteria
- CNC machining operations including mills (HAAS) and lathes (Citizen)
- Manual machining operations including mills, lathes, drills and jig bores
- Welding experience
- Knowledge of machining of metals, plastics and composites
- Experience using CADCAM software such as Powershape, Powermill and HyperMill
- Understanding of GD&T
- PLM, ERP and Document management awareness such as 3DX, INFOR and Therefore
- APQP knowledge
- Customer facing experience
