Dennison Commercials Ltd is the sole Volvo Truck & Bus dealer and the leading provider of heavy commercial vehicles in Northern Ireland. Our business offers new and used Volvo truck and bus sales, rental trucks and all aftermarket services, including all aspects of service, repair and parts provision. Encompassing Dennison JCB, we are also the official JCB dealer for construction, industrial and access equipment and generators in Northern Ireland and Donegal.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, solutions-driven IT professional with a passion for AI and a drive to turn ideas into real, scalable solutions. This is a senior, hands-on role designed to work closely with the Head of IT. The successful candidate will be trusted to take ownership of systems, projects and operational issues, acting as a key technical lead across the business. This role blends hands-on IT support, systems improvement, and innovative AI solution development. Key Role Duties & Responsibilities:
- Design and implement practical automation and AI-assisted solutions to reduce admin burden, streamline workflows, support decision making and improve data visibility across the business.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and platforms to identify opportunities for innovation.
- Lead and contribute to IT projects, such as system upgrades, new software rollouts, workflow automation, and data-driven improvements.
- Work closely with department teams across our business to understand operational challenges and translate them into practical technical solutions.
- Understand and operate effectively in a live dealership environment where system availability directly impacts customer service and revenue.
- Develop integrations and automations across systems such as CRM, service scheduling, stock management, and reporting tools.
- Maintain and improve IT infrastructure, including networks, devices, cloud services, and security controls.
- Troubleshoot day-to-day IT issues quickly and effectively to minimise downtime in a fast-paced dealership environment.
- Document processes, configurations, and solution designs to support knowledge sharing within a small team.
- Provide technical guidance and training to colleagues on new tools, systems, and AI capabilities.
- Champion innovation, encouraging the adoption of new tools and smarter ways of working across the business.

Required Criteria:
- A strong understanding of AI concepts, automation tools, and practical AI platforms (e.g. Microsoft Copilot or similar).
- Experience supporting IT systems in operational environments, ideally with exposure to automotive, plant, or engineering sectors.
- The ability to analyse complex problems and design creative, efficient solutions.
- A good understanding of cloud technologies, APIs, integrations, and modern IT infrastructure.
- Be a confident communicator who can work effectively with non-technical colleagues and explain technical concepts clearly.
- Be proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working independently within a small team.
- Experience with scripting, low-code/no-code tools, or automation platforms is a plus.
- Possess a genuine interest in emerging technology and how it can improve operational performance.
