Overview
Role: Field Service Engineer
Location: Covering all of the Midlands, allocated to the Aldridge Service Centre
Hours: 45 hours per week, 08:00–17:30 Monday to Friday. A 40-hour per week option is available.
Salary: £43,992–£46,800 per annum DOE (based on 45 hours per week).
Are you a skilled technician with a passion for problem-solving and delivering exceptional service? We’re looking for a proactive and customer-focused Field Service Engineer to join our Aftermarket team!
This is a mobile role where you’ll service, repair, and maintain specialist vehicles at customer sites and in company workshops. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring our vehicles are safe, compliant, and operating at peak performance.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair faults on vehicle chassis and mounted equipment
- Carry out servicing and maintenance to a high standard
- Prepare vehicles for MOT inspections and ensure compliance with Department Of Transport specifications
- Use diagnostic software and tools to identify and resolve issues
- Log all work using PDA software and maintain accurate service records
- Travel to customer sites across the UK, sometimes at short notice
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times
- Communicate clearly with customers and provide excellent service
- Support health and safety practices and complete risk assessments as required
Ideal Candidate (Qualifications)
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance
- Previous experience in a similar role (Field Service, HGV Mechanic, Workshop Engineer)
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Knowledge of vehicle technology systems and compliance standards
- Comfortable working independently and managing your own workload
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Flexible with working hours and willing to travel
- General computer literacy and ability to complete technical documentation
- Experience with electric vehicles, IRTEC qualification, or HGV Class 2 licence is a bonus
