Reports To: Reception Team Supervisor and Patient Services Manager

Hours: Part-time hours available, Monday – Friday, between 7.30am – 6.00pm

Job Summary: Receive, assist, and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient, and effective manner. Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Administration: Maintain thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures. Work in accordance with written protocols.
  • Reception: Greet and receive patients consulting with members of the practice team. Hand completed repeat prescriptions to patients and verify names and addresses. Cover all reception positions as necessary.
  • Appointments: Process appointment requests for same-day and future appointments via telephone and in person. Handle visit requests appropriately.
  • Computer: Register new patients, including data entry and updating medical records. Process patient address changes in the computer system. Manage repeat prescription requests following practice guidelines.
  • Telephone: Maintain a working knowledge of the telephone system during and after hours.
  • Other Tasks: Ensure building security by understanding doors, windows, and alarm systems. Perform any other tasks assigned by managers.
