Are you looking to progress and develop your career in a leadership role in NHS Finance, working as part of a fast paced, compassionate, and innovative team? An exciting opportunity has arisen at Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust to work in the Income Team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead an enthusiastic and committed team, providing effective leadership and management of the Income team, including expert financial advice and staff development.
  • Lead on all technical aspects of Trust income, acting as the Trust expert on activity pricing and charging.
  • Support the Deputy Director of Finance in the development of income plans, and collaborate with the Assistant Director of Finance and Head of Financial Reporting.
  • Support the Assistant Director of Finance in the agreement of all NHS contracts through the completion of annual contracts.
  • Develop financial systems and control processes via the development of SLAM to ensure potential income is identified accurately and recovered in accordance with published guidance.
  • Ensure the development, maintenance and application of income monitoring and reporting systems to support income performance management across all areas of the Trust.
  • Take a coordinating role in the provision of all financial information relating to income, including forecasting.
  • Support the process for agreeing and monitoring service contracts with ICBs and other commissioners through the production of relevant activity and financial schedules.
  • Support the Deputy Director of Finance and Assistant Director of Finance in all contract meetings with NHS Commissioners and be the first point of contact for the resolution of all financial queries relating to relevant contracts.
  • Act as the Trust’s lead on Education & Training income.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Post‑qualification experience to provide expert financial advice and support to both the finance team and the senior management team.
  • Excellent leadership qualities and strong communication skills.
  • Strong problem‑solving, planning and organisational skills.
  • Passion for the delivery of patient care and the use of digital solutions to improve financial accounting and reporting.
