Due to maternity leave, we are seeking a Dietitian to join the Nutrition and Dietetics Service at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead. This fixed‑term temporary post offers an enthusiastic dietitian with an interest in gastroenterology and surgery to develop their skills and provide a high quality dietetic service.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist dietetic care to the 29‑bed gastroenterology ward, 30‑bed surgical ward and gastroenterology specialist clinics.
- Act as a clinical specialist within gastroenterology and surgery within a multidisciplinary team.
- Co‑ordinate and develop dietetic services within Gateshead.
- Supervise junior staff, students and apprentices.
- Participate in audit, monitoring, evaluation and development of the dietetic services.
- Provide education and training for staff to ensure clinical effectiveness.
Essential Requirements
- Degree or postgraduate diploma / Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Relevant postgraduate clinical experience within gastroenterology and/or surgical dietetics.
- Evidence of team working, audit/data collection and training/supervision of student dietitians.
- Good communication, time management and organisational skills.
- Competent to manage nutritional support and enteral feeding regimes.
Desirable
- PENG or other relevant master’s module.
- Member of BDA.
- Skilled in the dietetic management of parenteral nutrition.
- Experience delivering FODMAPs and service development.
Contract and Working Pattern
- Band 6, fixed term, 12 months, part‑time pro‑rata salary £38,682 to £46,580 a year.
