Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced ACP or Advanced Nurse Practitioner to lead our Deteriorating Adult Response Team – DART. We are looking for a dynamic, forward‑thinking, experienced individual looking for a new challenge. DART provides high‑quality, nursing care and support to patients across the organisation who are acutely unwell, ensuring patients receive the right care, at the right time, in the right place.
As a fundamental service, pivotal to the welfare of our patients, you will work alongside the DART Medical Clinical Lead, Acute and Critical Care teams to ensure the service is fully integrated within the organisation and assist with our ongoing development of the National Martha\’s Rule initiative. The ideal candidate will lead a team of Band 7 Nurse Practitioners and Band 6 Development Nurse Practitioners, working with minimal supervision and providing oversight and support to junior members of the team.
This post will include clinical and non‑clinical shifts; the service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Candidates should be aware that they will be required to work shifts on a rota basis, including the occasional night shift.
Candidates should be aware that only those who meet the essential criteria will be selected for interview. We encourage potential candidates to contact us to discuss the role further.
Main Duties of the Job
This role will be central to the ongoing development of the DART service within the organisation. Through senior leadership, communication, and multidisciplinary working, you will work closely with the Medical Clinical Lead to ensure the service responds quickly and effectively to deteriorating patients in all areas of the trust.
You will assist the team in providing support to all ward‑based teams in recognising and managing acutely unwell patients, fostering a supportive and educational environment throughout the organisation and contributing to bespoke education programmes.
As an ACP or Advanced Nurse Practitioner, you must complete a concise clinical history and physical examination to formulate an appropriate diagnosis and management plan. Advanced communication skills will be required daily to educate and motivate others.
As a senior position, this role requires an outstanding role model with extensive clinical and managerial experience and leadership.
You will lead the ongoing development of Trust policies and protocols to guide practice and service delivery, act as clinical lead in audit and service improvement, and complete monthly reports for the trust’s clinical governance group.
