The company specialises in the manufacture and supply of drivetrain, precision valve and pump components.
We are seeking a Production & Technical Sales Engineer to join our production team at our Liverpool site.
Overview
The Technical Sales & Engineer will report to the Technical Sales & Engineering Manager and act as the key link between production engineering and production control.
Successful candidates will be expected to:
Create sales quotations from customer enquiries using the internal M1 ERP system, ensuring they meet customer drawings, quality plans, processes, procedures, materials, testing, inspection, documentation and all other specified requirements.
Review their own and colleagues’ quotations, planning and documentation before issue.
Raise purchase orders and source quality-compliant materials and external processes at the best available market price and delivery times.
Produce order acknowledgements and detailed planning in M1, ensuring customer requirements and specifications align with purchase orders and associated documentation.
Create dimensional reports manually and using dedicated software, ensuring the correct documentation is available for manufacture.
Visit customers and vendors to maintain strong working relationships.
Liaise with customers, production control and quality control to ensure customer needs are clearly communicated to all relevant staff.
Assist with creating and proving machine tool programmes, advising on work holding best practice, tooling selection, and appropriate speeds and feeds.
Set up and maintain a machine tool programme library.
Quote and purchase non-standard tooling, and design and manufacture any fixtures or other work holding devices required.
Contribute to any on-site R&D activities.
Requirements
Essential requirements:
- Time-served, with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
- HNC or higher qualification in mechanical or production engineering.
- Ability to programme CNC turning centres and vertical and horizontal machining centres.
- Ability to work accurately from detailed engineering drawings.
- Experience producing detailed planning and estimates.
- Up-to-date knowledge of best-practice methods, processes, tooling and emerging technologies.
- Understanding of ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems.
- Experience working with exotic metals, such as super duplex, duplex, 718, X750, Hastelloy and Monel.
- At least two years’ experience in a similar role.
- Strong planning and organisational skills.
- Good communication skills with peers, management, suppliers and customers.
- High attention to detail.
Preferred experience, but not essential:
- Experience with Doosan CNC machinery, including lathes, VMCs and HMCs.
- Experience using Fanuc controls.
- Experience using Manual Guide programming software.
- Experience using OneCNC programming software.
- Experience with fourth-axis programming and machining.
- Knowledge of valve and pump components.
- Experience in the oil, gas, fluid and power generation sectors.
- Experience using Office 365 and ERP systems.
