Job Description
Are you an experienced HLTA who can inspire pupils in the classroom while providing exceptional behaviour and pastoral support? We are seeking a resilient, compassionate and highly motivated professional to deliver learning, cover classes, and work with pupils who need additional guidance to achieve their full potential.
This varied role combines high-quality teaching support with targeted behaviour interventions, mentoring and pastoral care, making a real difference to pupils' academic progress, wellbeing and engagement in school.
We are seeking an exceptional Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to play a pivotal role in supporting pastoral and behaviour. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced practitioner who is committed to improving outcomes for children and creating a positive, inclusive school environment.
Hours of Work: 32.5 hours per week, term time only plus 2 days
The Role
As a HLTA you will:
- Lead targeted interventions to improve behaviour, attendance and engagement.
- Build positive relationships with pupils who need additional support.
- Provide mentoring and pastoral guidance to help pupils overcome personal and academic challenges.
- Work closely with teachers, leaders, parents and external agencies to support individual pupils.
- Support the school's behaviour systems and contribute to maintaining high expectations across the school.
- Deliver learning activities and cover lessons where appropriate.
- Help create a culture where every child feels safe, valued and able to succeed.
- Plan, prepare and deliver lessons
- Teach whole classes to cover absence and PPA
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Has HLTA status or equivalent relevant experience.
- Has a proven track record of working with children who present challenging behaviour.
- Is calm, resilient and solution-focused under pressure.
- Can build trust quickly and establish positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understands safeguarding, inclusion and trauma-informed approaches.
- Believes that every child can succeed with the right support.
