FUNCTION: To verify that the Denholm Industrial Services management system (DMS) is implemented to address health, safety, and environmental policies, ensuring compliance with Client, Statutory, and Regulatory requirements through constant monitoring, audit, review, and assessment techniques.

REPORTS TO: Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Director

INTERFACES WITH:

  • Client Safety Representatives and Specialists

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implementing HSE systems at the DIS Scotstoun Project under the guidance of the HSEQ Director.
  • Supporting operational activities and ensuring compliance with regulations and statutory requirements is documented and audited.
  • Representing, communicating, and supporting the Company HSEQ Policy.
  • Ensuring DMS conforms to statutory and regulatory requirements and keeping Clients informed of developments.
  • Conducting regular awareness talks, audits, and reviews to ensure DMS is fully implemented by all staff.
  • Carrying out audits and reviews of safety system elements and ensuring risk assessments are completed before operations.
  • Involvement in local management reviews on HSE issues and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Ensuring effective HSE systems are employed by on-site personnel and that audits and inspections are documented.
  • Identifying DMS records and deliverables in advance of project work and agreeing these with the Client.
  • Ensuring effective use of safety equipment and understanding of permit to work systems.
  • Implementing DIS Weekly HSE Initiatives and training personnel on its use and objectives.
  • Promoting workforce engagement through visible leadership support, safety conversations, toolbox talks, and positive intervention activities.
  • Participating in investigations of accidents, incidents, and unsafe acts, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions are communicated.
  • Liaising with client HSE representatives, regulatory bodies, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental expectations.
  • Monitoring compliance with permit-to-work systems and escalating significant concerns through management channels.
  • Supporting the delivery of the Positive Culture with Denholm programme through workforce engagement and behavioural safety coaching.

ACCOUNTABILITY: The HSE Advisor functionally reports to the HSEQ Director and operationally supports Project/Operations Management.

PROFILE: The HSE Advisor shall be conversant with statutory and regulatory requirements and undertake regular training to stay updated on changes in legislation.

GEOGRAPHICAL AREA: Primarily based within the Scotstoun shipyard, with occasional travel covered by DIS for holidays or courses.

This package will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
