Purpose of the Role

The HSE Manager will support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) standards across a fast-paced warehousing and logistics operation.

The role is responsible for ensuring legal compliance, reducing risk, promoting a positive safety culture, and supporting operational teams to work safely and sustainably.

• Key Accountabilities
• Provide practical HSE advice and guidance to managers, supervisors, and employees.
• Conduct workplace inspections, audits, risk assessments, and ensure effective safe systems of work are in place.
• Support environmental management, including waste, spill prevention, energy efficiency, and environmental compliance.
• Monitor compliance with UK HSE legislation, company policies, and industry best practice.
• Develop, review, and implement risk assessments, policies, procedures, and safe working practices.
• Lead or support accident, incident, and near-miss investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Monitor HSE performance, analyse trends, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Deliver HSE training, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns to promote employee engagement and a positive safety culture.
• Maintain accurate HSE records, including training, risk assessments, inspections, and incident data.
• Support emergency planning, fire safety, contractor management, and liaise with regulators and key stakeholders where required.

• Reduction in incidents, repeat safety failures, damage, waste, and operational losses.
• Improved safety engagement, reporting culture, audit performance, and legal compliance.
• Delivery of operational performance without compromising safety.

Skills & Experience

• NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
• Experience within warehousing, logistics, or distribution.
• Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and risk management.
• Experience investigating incidents, conducting audits, and delivering HSE training.
• Strong communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Desirable: IOSH membership, Fire Safety or Environmental qualification, Internal Auditor qualification, and experience with FLT or other high-risk warehouse operations.
