Denholm Industrial Services are recruiting Sentries for our contract in Devonport, Plymouth.

Working Hours:

  • Dayshift: 7.30 - 16.00
  • Backshift: 15.00 - 23.00

Job Description:

The Tank Sentry is responsible for ensuring the safety, compliance, and efficiency of hot work operations. This role involves continuous monitoring, adherence to safety procedures, and effective communication with supervisors and safety teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor hot work areas to prevent fires, smoke build-up, or the presence of combustible materials.
  • Ensure fire extinguishers and related equipment are inspected and fully operational.
  • Wear appropriate PPE and RPE at all times, reporting and recording any defects or non-compliance.
  • Conduct end-of-shift cool-down procedures to minimise fire risk.
  • Provide detailed shift handovers, ensuring all logs and documentation are accurately completed daily.
  • Communicate effectively with the line supervisor, promptly raising any concerns or hazards.
  • Comply with all DIS directives, regulations, and operational guidelines.
  • Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations, reporting any breaches immediately.
  • Work collaboratively with the Group Health and Safety Team to obtain guidance and support.
  • Ensure safe systems of work are in place and followed prior to and during all work activities.
  • Participate in safety communications, both formal and informal, to promote a strong safety culture.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude toward safety and training, ensuring competence in all assigned duties.
