Were Hiring | QA | Birkenhead We are looking for an experienced QA Inspector to support industrial coating activities at our Birkenhead site.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all surface preparation, coating application, inspection, and documentation activities are completed in line with project specifications, quality standards, and client requirements.
Due to the nature of the role and site requirements, preference will be given to candidates who are local to Birkenhead or within a reasonable commuting distance.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out quality checks on surface preparation, blasting, painting, and industrial coating activities.
- Inspect coating works at each stage to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements.
- Monitor environmental conditions, including temperature, humidity, dew point, and surface cleanliness prior to coating application.
- Check coating materials, batch numbers, expiry dates, mixing ratios, pot life, and application methods.
- Measure and record Wet Film Thickness (WFT) and Dry Film Thickness (DFT) where required.
- Identify defects, non-conformances, or areas requiring rework and liaise with supervisors and operatives to resolve issues.
- Complete inspection reports, quality records, check sheets, and associated project documentation accurately and on time.
- Support the preparation of ITPs, quality plans, inspection test records, and handover packs.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with company procedures, permits, risk assessments, and method statements.
- Work closely with production teams, supervisors, clients, and third-party inspectors to maintain high standards of workmanship. Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in a QA, QC, coating inspection, or industrial painting inspection role.
- Strong knowledge of industrial coating systems, surface preparation standards, and coating application processes.
- Experience working within marine, defence, oil and gas, infrastructure, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environments would be advantageous.
- Ability to read and interpret specifications, technical data sheets, inspection test plans, and quality documentation.
- Confident completing inspection records and communicating quality issues clearly and professionally.
- Good attention to detail with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving quality concerns.
- Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental requirements within an industrial site environment. Qualifications
