Job Title: Mechanical / Plant Fitter Location: Birkenhead Reports To: Contract Manager Role Overview We are seeking a skilled Mechanical / Plant Fitter to inspect, service, maintain, and repair a range of industrial spray painting and abrasive blasting equipment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring equipment remains safe, reliable, and fully operational to support project delivery across multiple sites. Key Responsibilities * Carry out routine maintenance, servicing, and repairs on spray painting and blasting equipment. * Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and operational faults. * Maintain and repair airless spray pumps, blast pots, compressors, air preparation units, hoses, nozzles, and associated equipment. * Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and breakdown repairs. * Inspect equipment before deployment to ensure compliance with operational and safety standards. * Install, commission, and test equipment on customer and project sites. * Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and service documentation. * Manage spare parts inventory and identify replacement requirements. * Ensure equipment is maintained in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and company procedures. * Support the mobilisation and demobilisation of equipment for projects. * Assist with equipment upgrades, modifications, and improvements. * Adhere to all Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality requirements. Essential Requirements * You will need to be able to achieve security clearance including BPSS & SC * Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Plant Fitter, Maintenance Technician, or similar role. * NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Plant Maintenance, or a related discipline. * Experience maintaining industrial plant or specialist equipment. * Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills. * Good understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems. * Ability to read technical manuals and maintenance documentation. * Full UK Driving Licence. * Ability to work independently and travel to various sites when required. Desirable Requirements * Experience with abrasive blasting and industrial spray painting equipment. * Experience with compressor maintenance and air systems. * IPAF, PASMA, or forklift certification.
