Denholm Associates is partnering with a highly successful, large-scale organisation in the UK utilities sector to appoint a Senior Propositions Manager into a pivotal commercial leadership role. Operating at significant scale and recognised as a major player within its market, our client is entering an exciting phase of growth and transformation. The sector is evolving rapidly, driven by regulatory change, smart technology, sustainability priorities and shifting customer expectations - creating a rare opportunity for an experienced propositions leader to make a genuine impact.
This is a senior, high-profile role within a growing Commercial function, reporting directly into an executive-level leader. The successful candidate will take ownership of a broad portfolio of customer propositions across multiple regulated and non-regulated product and service lines, each with ambitious growth targets and distinct market dynamics. Despite the organisation's strong market position, customer switching remains relatively low and product innovation is accelerating. This creates a substantial opportunity to design compelling, value-led propositions that meet evolving customer needs while delivering strong commercial outcomes. Alongside this, the business is expanding its professional services and sustainability-led offerings, focused on efficiency, innovation and long-term value for customers.
Responsibilities
- End-to-end ownership of the organisation's customer propositions, from insight and ideation through to launch and performance management
- Leading the development and execution of new propositions, taking initiatives from concept to go-live
- Identifying market gaps and growth opportunities using customer insight, analytics and cross-functional input
- Commercial ownership of proposition business cases, including launch, optimisation and retirement decisions
- Acting as a central link between sales, marketing, commercial, operations and data teams to ensure propositions align to defined customer cohorts and personas
- Establishing governance frameworks and monitoring proposition performance against agreed KPIs
- Presenting new propositions and strategic recommendations to senior and executive stakeholders
- Managing and coordinating third-party suppliers and partners where required
- Supporting senior leadership with go-to-market strategy, commercial governance and strategic decision-making
This role has a strong execution focus and requires the ability to deliver through influence in a complex, matrixed environment.
About you

- Strong cross-functional leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Experience using segmentation, insight and data to inform proposition design
- A solid understanding of operational delivery and third-party management
Key skills
- Strong commercial acumen with experience building and justifying complex business cases
- Strategic and analytical thinking combined with practical execution capability
- Confidence influencing at senior and executive levels
- Excellent project management and prioritisation skills
- Clear, concise and compelling communication skills
Why this role?
This is an opportunity to step into a high-impact role within a large, respected organisation at a time of significant market change.
