The Law Society of Scotland is no exception. We are looking for an Information Governance Officer to help keep their IG framework sharp, current and properly embedded across the business. You'll be advising colleagues at every level, coordinating statutory requests, and shaping how information risk gets managed across the organisation. How you'll make your mark You'll own a wide slice of information governance, from data protection compliance through to FOI delivery, and bring structure and consistency to both. Key deliverables Support compliance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, including data protection impact assessments and subject access requests. Coordinate and process FOI requests, working with Information Governance Champions to meet statutory deadlines. Provide day-to-day advice on data protection and FOI legislation across the organisation. Produce reports, metrics and dashboards on information security and data protection incidents, identifying root causes and lessons learned. Contribute to the development and maintenance of IG policies, procedures and guidance. Working knowledge of UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and Freedom of Information legislation. Experience handling data subject access requests or FOI requests in a regulated or public-facing environment. Confidence advising colleagues at all levels on information governance matters. An eye for detail and a methodical approach to risk, reporting and audit. This is a permanent role with hybrid and flexible working built in, so you can structure your week around what works for you and the job. You'll have the backing of an established Information Governance team and the room to develop your expertise across both data protection and FOI, two disciplines that are increasingly hard to separate. Information governance sits close to the heart of that work. Most IG roles narrow you into either data protection or FOI.
