Due to planned growth, we are seeking a motivated, highly driven, and commercially astute Materials Buyer to join the Commercial team at our head offices in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, IP33 3WD. As a Buyer you will be accountable for the procurement of building materials for various new build residential projects across East Anglia reporting directly to the Commercial Manager. Denbury Homes are a privately owned Suffolk based traditional house builder. We are currently building in various locations across East Anglia.

Qualifications

  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • A good understanding of construction methods, practices and contractual procedures.
  • The ability to work as part of a team but also be disciplined and self‑motivated to manage individual workload to strict deadlines.
  • Computer literate with competency in Microsoft packages.
  • Knowledge of COINS (preferred).
  • Previous experience in new build residential sector (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Procurement of materials/plant as dictated by individual project specifications.
  • Administering and monitoring any sole deals and associated rebates.
  • Preparing material budgets.
  • Monitoring and reporting on material budgets as contracts progress.
  • Issuing tender enquiries and analysing quotations.
  • Preparing material take‑off from contract drawings and specifications.
  • Preparing material schedules on Excel for supplier and site use.
  • Production of computer‑generated Purchase Orders on COINS.
  • Collating and submitting statistical costing analysis as required.
  • Administering and authorising invoices for the supply chain.
  • Assisting the construction team with regular stock takes.
  • Assisting with product and specification development.
