Job Purpose

To provide support for a diverse finance function, comprising of purchasing and accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash and treasury management, budgeting and forecasting, payroll reconciliation, financial governance and audit and financial systems. As the Company’s Finance Assistant, you will support the team with the preparation of month end and year end accounts, completion of statistical returns, VAT return and grant claims. Process and reconcile daily income. Raise sundry debtor invoices, process purchase orders and supplier invoices and complete other ad hoc financial administrative duties.

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • The post holder will be responsible for processing all general revenue for the Company’s Leisure and Food and Beverage income systems (Legend and Tillwise), ensuring all income is processed and posted to the ledger and fully reconciled.
  • Manage the Finance function’s shared email inboxes (Finance Team & Accounts Payable).
  • Ensure all supplier records are maintained, raise purchase order requests, process and send purchase orders to suppliers. Deal with supplier queries.
  • Support the Company’s Accounts Receivable function by maintaining customer records and raising customer invoices.
  • Support the Financial Management Accountant and Management Accountant - Treasury Operations as required.
  • Support the Finance Business Partner and Senior Management Accountants to prepare month end and year end accounts.
  • Support the Finance Team Management to ensure strong financial governance across the company.
  • Support the preparation of accounts for external audit.
  • General administrative duties in relation to financial matters.

Qualifications, Experience & Knowledge

  • GCSE Grade C in Maths and English, or equivalent qualification, or work experience.
  • Experience of working within a Finance role/sector is preferable.
  • It is desirable full membership of AAT, or working towards the qualification, or equivalent further professional training in finance.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting and financial procedures, regulations and systems is required, as well as working knowledge of financial practices together with a knowledge of accounting systems and spreadsheets.
  • Familiarity with computer software (e.g. Microsoft Office packages) and more specifically an understanding of Microsoft Excel.
  • The ability to embrace new technology.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential both verbal and written, in order to help others understand financial information and advice, and to build strong working relationships.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with high levels of accuracy, are also essential for this role, as is the willingness to learn and develop.
  • Empathy with the Welsh Language and Culture.

Special Working Conditions

  • The post holder must have the ability to travel across Denbighshire for which an allowance is payable but subject to review.
  • The post holder will be required to work to compressed timescales and within defined budgets.
  • Once training has been provided the post holder will be required to complete tasks under minimal supervision as required and have a proven ability to work off their own initiative.
  • The ability to prioritise work, deal with conflicting priorities and meet deadlines is essential to this post.
