Community Sport Leader

Salary: £15.07 per hour
Hours: 30 hours per week
Contract: Fixed term until 31st March 2028
About the Role
We’re looking to recruit a Community Sport Leader to support the delivery of inclusive, sustainable physical activity opportunities across Denbighshire. This role is part funded by Actif North Wales and will help bring the Actif North Wales vision and strategy and the DLL priorities to life by using sport and physical activity to improve health and well-being, support social inclusion and create positive opportunities for young people and communities.
In this role, you will work as part of the Community Sport and Leadership team, delivering community and extra-curricular school-based sport and physical activity sessions, supporting volunteers and working with partners to ensure programmes are delivered effectively and make a real difference locally.
The key tasks will include:
- Delivering sport and physical activity sessions in community and school settings across Denbighshire to young people, including the delivery of the Bikeability course.
- Delivering sessions like Boccia and Chair Based Exercises in the community to older people
- Supporting the planning, marketing and delivery of programmes and events so they are engaging, inclusive and well organised
- Working closely with colleagues, schools, clubs and partner organisations to develop coordinated physical activity opportunities
- Encouraging and supporting volunteers to have a positive experience while contributing to sessions and activities
- Collecting feedback and information to help monitor projects and demonstrate impact.
About You
Our ideal person will be someone enthusiastic, reliable and passionate about using sport and physical activity to make a positive difference in local communities. We’re looking for someone who can help support shared priorities around improving health and well-being, increasing participation and creating inclusive opportunities for young people and communities across Denbighshire.
You’ll be someone who enjoys working with people of all ages and abilities, and who can motivate and encourage others to take part in sport and physical activity in a fun, safe and inclusive way.
The role will involve delivering sessions in schools and community settings, so you’ll need to be well organised, confident communicating with participants, volunteers and partners, and able to adapt activities to suit different groups and settings.
Coaching qualifications, or a Sport Leaders qualification would be a real advantage, as would experience of delivering sport, physical activity or youth-focused sessions, but your attitude, energy and commitment to helping people be more active are just as important.

Location: Office base DLL HQ in Denbigh, but the role requires delivering sessions throughout Denbighshire so the ability to drive and access to transport is essential.
