The Role
Denbigh School is seeking an experienced and proactive Estates and Compliance Manager to lead the operational management of our site, facilities, health and safety, and compliance functions. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring that our school environment remains safe, secure, compliant, and fit for purpose for students, staff, and visitors.
Working closely with the Business Manager, you will oversee the Site Team, Cleaning Team, and Lettings Assistants, driving high standards across maintenance, security, facilities management, and statutory compliance. This varied and hands-on role combines strategic planning with operational leadership. You will be responsible for:
- Leading all aspects of health and safety compliance across the school.
- Managing statutory inspections, testing, and maintenance programmes.
- Ensuring compliance with fire safety, COSHH, legionella, PAT testing, and other regulatory requirements.
- Managing and developing site, cleaning, and lettings teams.
- Overseeing contractors, service providers, and maintenance projects.
- Managing the premises budget and identifying efficiencies and cost savings.
- Maintaining high standards across school buildings, grounds, equipment, and facilities.
- Acting as a key holder and responding to site emergencies when required.
- Supporting sustainability initiatives, energy management, and environmental improvements.
- Leading preparations for examinations, school events, and lettings activities.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- IOSH qualification.
- Significant experience managing estates, facilities, grounds, or property services.
- Previous line management experience.
- Strong understanding of health and safety legislation, COSHH, and safe working practices.
- Experience managing budgets and financial reporting.
- Excellent planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- A flexible approach, including occasional evening and weekend working.
Desirable
- NEBOSH qualification (or willingness to undertake training).
- First Aid qualification.
- Experience in project management, procurement, and contractor management.
- Experience delivering change and improvement programmes.
