Democracy is the fastest-growing PR agency outside London – and we’re looking for an ambitious, commercially minded Account Director to help lead our next phase of growth. This is a senior role with real influence. You’ll work on high-profile, reputation-shaping briefs across energy, pharma and education, partnering closely with clients who expect strategic thinking and bold ideas. Alongside this, you’ll play an active role in new business, helping grow our footprint in both Manchester and London.

THE ROLE
As Account Director, you’ll be responsible for leading client relationships, shaping strategy, and ensuring our work delivers real impact. You’ll bring clarity, creativity and commercial thinking to everything you do. Key responsibilities include:
- Building, maintaining and growing senior client relationships
- Identifying client needs, ambitions and challenges, and developing creative, effective solutions
- Providing clear strategic direction and counsel to clients and internal teams
- Translating client objectives into actionable plans and driving timely delivery
- Leading and developing account teams through line management
- Contributing to new business pitches and agency growth
ABOUT YOU
You’re curious, ideas-driven and commercially astute. You enjoy solving complex problems, spotting opportunities, and helping clients and teams succeed. You’ll ideally have:
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 6+ years’ experience in PR or communications
- A proven track record of growing accounts and building trusted client relationships
- Strong presentation and storytelling skills
- Experience managing people and leading teams
