Our client based in North Shields, Tyne and Wear is a leading provider of technical and engineering solutions, offering their unique product to their prestigious client base worldwide. They are now looking for a Project Engineer/Technical Author to join their existing team. The successful Project Engineer/Technical Author will be responsible for technical authorship of handbooks / systems manuals, logistic support analysis and writing configuration management procedures. This is a fantastic opportunity to work for a dynamic and growing company where you will work with a friendly team in a great environment. Please note that full training will be provided for this role, although not essential this will ideally suit someone coming from a Royal Navy Weapons Engineer / Royal Navy Marine Engineer / Engineering Technician / Merchant Navy or Royal Fleet Auxiliary background with mechanical or electrical / electronics’ engineering experience. Project Engineer Responsibilities: * Authoring of technical publications (e.g., ship’s handbooks, system operating manuals). * Preparation and authoring of fault diagnostic schedules, maintenance procedures and database population. * Provide guidance and assistance to data entry staff in relation to database population and technical publication production. * The preparation of data for spare parts lists and spare part requirement analysis. * The conduct of Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) analysis and report generation. * Undertake contract work at customer premises and onboard customer vessels as required. * Occasional travel within the UK and overseas will be required. Project Engineer Requirements: * The successful candidate must have a strong weapons / marine engineering (Mechanical / Electrical or Electronic engineering background) and have experience in the maintenance and operation of equipment in the marine industry. * Ideally qualified to HNC/HND level in a relevant engineering discipline. * Computer literate with reasonable keyboard skills and knowledge of windows / Microsoft packages. * Good communication skills both written and oral. * Team player with the ability to work on own initiative. Project Engineer Benefits: * Salary is £43,000 - £45,000 depending on experience. * Monday to Friday 37½ hours with flexible start and finish times. * Hybrid working. * 25 days holiday + bank holiday. * Company pension scheme, life insurance, private health insurance, income protection insurance. * Full training will be provided with this role
