I am recruiting for my client, an established engineering business based in Basingstoke, Hampshire. They are looking to recruit an Electrical Test Technician to join their Customer Service team, predominantly based at their Basingstoke facility with UK and overseas travel required to support customers when needed.

This is an excellent opportunity for an electrical/electronic biased engineer who enjoys hands-on technical work, fault finding and problem solving. You will be involved in testing, validating, commissioning and troubleshooting specialist electrical systems and equipment, working closely with engineering and production teams as well as supporting commissioning activities at customer sites.

Electrical Test Technician Responsibilities:

  • Carry out testing on electrical components, control panels and associated systems.
  • Complete functional, performance and safety testing on electrical equipment.
  • Diagnose, investigate and rectify electrical and electronic faults identified during testing.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Analyse test results and identify the root cause of faults or performance issues.
  • Support commissioning and troubleshooting activities at customer sites when required.
  • Produce accurate test reports and maintain relevant technical documentation.
  • Travel within the UK and overseas to support customer requirements, installations and commissioning activities when required.

Electrical Test Technician Requirements:

  • Level 3 qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong electrical or electronic fault finding and diagnostic skills.
  • The ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience using electrical test and diagnostic equipment.
  • Good knowledge of electrical regulations and safe working practices.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Willingness and flexibility to undertake UK and international travel.
  • Full UK driving licence and passport.
